Engagement Photos – Tar Heel Style

Engagement Photo at University LakeWe weren’t going to get engagement photos – they were too expensive.  What do you do with engagement photos anyways?  Sure, you send one to the local paper and maybe have a few for decoration at the wedding, but who needs a full photo shoot just for that?  Especially when full photo shoots run $200+ just for the sitting fee, and then even more if you actually WANT the photos so that you can print them.

But, then we started talking to Bethany and DanThey’re great, by the way.  I have known Bethany and her family for years, so they were a natural choice to take our wedding photos.  Once we narrowed down our photographer search and eventually asked them to shoot our wedding, Bethany explained the importance of getting a photo package that included engagement photos, and she sure was right.

Not only was it great to spend a few hours in front of the camera (gotta get prepared for the wedding day), but it was great to get to know Bethany and Dan a little better and get more comfortable having them around.  Not to mention that we will have a GREAT selection of photos!

So we went for it, we invited Bethany and Dan to come up to Chapel Hill and follow us around on campus and out to the boathouse and take some photos.

It was very weird having two people with giant cameras in your face saying, “Kiss! Wait… look natural… this is totally normal…”

Bethany and Dan took the “normal” engagement photos, but they also used their artistic and creative minds to come up with some very unique shots that you wouldn’t get from your average wedding photographer.  I’m glad they made us do it.  It was a lot of fun, and I think we are now much more prepared for the wedding photos.

That said, if you’re thinking about wedding photography, check out their site, www.bethanydan.com.  I’ll let the photos do the rest of the talking!
