Battle of the Brew – The Final Countdown

battle of the beer - Wheat vs BelgiumIt’s been about a week now since I originally posted our poll on what style of beer we should brew for our wedding weekend.  In an attempt to determine which style is worthy of the  “Wedding Ale” crown, I learned that our readers have a wide variety of beer preferences.  The following beer styles all received at least one vote: Blonde, IPA, Kolsh, Pale Ale, Wheat, Amber, Belgium, Irish Red and Saison.

Because of the variety of responses, and lack of a clear winner – not a single option received >50% of the vote, I have determined that we must have a Battle of the Brew Runoff!

The two most popular options were wheat beer and Belgium.  Since I agree that these are two very good options for a summertime wedding brew, I will leave it in your hands.  Below is the final runoff poll, and whichever of the two styles has the most votes at the end of the week will be the one I brew.

So cast your vote, spread the word and tell your friends.  This is a winner-takes-all battle of the brew!  May the best beer win!

I just started reading your blog because we’re brewing for our wedding this summer also! We’re trying a farmhouse ale this weekend and while I love a really good wheat beer, I tend to be a little biased toward Belgian beer. :)

Hi Jo – thanks for voting! Glad to hear I’m not the only one brewing some beer for his wedding! Let me know what you end up making and how it turns out – so far, it looks like wheat is holding onto the lead for us, though I also tend to sway toward the Belgian beer as well!
